Afterall,itshardertobehappywhenlivingwithchronicpainorillnessorwhenfacedwithapotentiallylife-threateningcondition.Whilehealthisstronglytiedtohappiness,lackofhealthisevenmorestronglycorrelatedwithlackofhappiness.Ofthosewhoratedtheirhealthas“poor,”awhopping55percentdescribedthemselvesas“nottoohappy,”whileonly6percentofthosein“excellent”healthsaidthesame.
AccordingtothePewResearchCenter,health—alongwithreligionandmarriage—wereamongthestrongestpredictorsofhappiness,evenwhenadjustingforavarietyofothervariables.
